Presbyterian Senior Living Receives The CARF International "Gold Seal of Excellence"

Housing & Development

CARFLogoThis month, the senior living communities in the Presbyterian Senior Living Aging Services Network will celebrate our most recent accreditation by CARF International.

This CARF accreditation process started with PSL’s long-term commitment to continuous improvement and culminated this past November with an external review by three of our industry peers. CARF surveyors visited our corporate headquarters and several of our continuing care retirement or affordable senior living communities where they met with our leadership team, our residents, and our team members. They reviewed our policies and practices with a focus on optimal outcomes for the persons served and sustained organizational success. Our survey report was a glowing recommendation for PSL’s operating procedures, financial management, strategic planning, and our focus on person-centered care.

You may ask, "What does CARF accreditation mean to me? What is the significance?"
  • As a funder, vendor, insurer, or referral agency you recognize that PSL as a CARF-accredited provider is accountable and a good business risk;
  • As a staff member, you realize that the policies in place to  protect our residents and staff are the best in the industry and that PSL is committed to giving you the latest training and support so that you can efficiently and continually provide excellent care;
  • As a resident, you are certain that PSL leadership is accessible and accountable and that quality, person-centered care is at the core of all our business decisions;
  • As a family member or a prospective resident, you may look to our CARF accreditation as that ‘good-housekeeping’ seal of approval that guarantees participating providers in our Aging Services Network all operate under the same high standards and that input from person served and their families continues to be a factor in our long range planning and strategic goals.

Our Aging Services Network Accreditation is a continual process of examination and adjustment to the needs of seniors. As part of our 3-year accreditation, we have prepared a Quality Improvement Plan with specific goals for the next three years. For example, PSL will expand our cultural diversity programs and enhance our safety and emergency preparedness in the coming months.

CARF Accreditation—our gold seal of excellence—is one visible piece of the enduring commitment Presbyterian Senior Living leadership has to continual improvement and quality service. For the thousands of people that live with us or work on our team of service providers, it is a well-deserved acknowledgement that we do indeed incorporate the highest industry standards into everything we do every day.
